Nossa Senhora da Saúde (Marcha de Procissão)

Ossónoba
Originally called Ossónoba, the city of Faro would have appeared around the 8th Century BC, colonized by the Phoenicians. At this time, the city was a commercial warehouse, integrated in a mercantilist system, based on the exchange of agricultural products, fish and minerals. The works begin in a slow and mysterious movement that refers to the discovery of new lands, going through the agitation of adverse times and reaching its peak with the edification of the most modern city, that reaches us today in its splendor.

Portus Cale Overture
The portuguese civil war (from 1828 to 1834) opposed the Absolutists, led by D. Miguel, and the Liberals, led by D. Pedro IV.
D. Miguel imposes Absolutism in Portugal, which is not well accepted and generates acts of violence against his opposers, which leads many of them to go into exile.
In 1832, the liberal troops land in Mindelo and take the city of Porto. After disembarking, the liberal forces took refuge within the city walls, leading the 'Miguelists' to begin the prolonged "Siege of Porto". There were 13 months during which the city suffered great deprivation, material damage and loss of human lives. Liberals courageously resisted forces faithful to D. Miguel, who ended up abandoning the siege of the city, in August 1833.
Portus Cale Overture highlights the heroic resistance of the people of Porto, where they've shown themselves undefeated in the face of D. Miguel's assaults, ensuring victory for the Liberals.
